Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Are the finishes used food safe?

Answer: Yes. If an item is designed to come in contact with food, I use one or a combination of the following products– all of which are all 100% food safe.

Pure Tung Oil – Manufactured by The Real MilkPaint Company – realmilkpaint.com
Odie’s Oil – Made by Odysseus Cornwall’s Outstanding Oils and Waxes – odiesoil.com
Walrus Oil and Walrus Wax – walrusoil.com
Bee’s Wax – Made by bees.
Hand Wash Only! – None of my products are dishwasher safe. Use warm water and a mild soap to clean when necessary. Dry immediately after washing with a soft towel.
Do not expose the item to direct sunlight or other strong UV sources for excessive periods of time. UV light can break down the finish and cause the wood to change color.
Do not use charcuterie boards as cutting boards. Charcuterie boards are made using the edge grain of the wood and are designed primarily for serving. The cutting boards that I offer are made by using the end grain of a very hard wood, like walnut, as the cutting surface. The end grain of wood is much harder and far less prone to show knife marks than the edge grain of wood.
